I must be getting older, because I am about to buy a bird watching book.

Recently I have caught myself aimlessly starring out of the window watching birds. It makes me feel old, but it really is an enjoyable hobby. Here are a few pictures of some of the birds I have seen. (Downloaded from google of course) These birds have all been hanging out in our two old oak trees. (stay tuned for the good story when you see hummingbirds) Being from West Texas, the only birds I saw were quail and black birds. I am pretty sure that I am going to purchase a bird watching journal..... I'm a nerd.

Woodpecker
Robbin
Hummingbird eggs. I have a hummingbird nest right outside our balcony. It is the coolest thing. Did you know hummingbirds are the only birds that can fly backwards? I wake up every morning and run to check on my hummingbird and to see if the babies are here.

This looks like my hummingbird, which is always referred to as a male, even though I know good and well that she is a female. My aunt told me that my great grandfather was a master hummingbird man. I must have it in my blood.

Hawk....which I like to refer to as a falcon. I am pretty sure that he would like to eat Jack, our poodle.

Cardinal - If you are ever with my family and we randomly call out, "Money, Money, Money!" It is because Brandon's Papaw told him to say that when you see a red bird.

Female Cardinal

Last summer we had a mother and three baby owls living in our trees.

Blue Jay

Last but not least, buzzards. Two of them were perched on our trees like this one when one of the neighborhood squirrels died.
